Most fossils are composed of calcite, aragonite or crytocrystalline quartz (chalcedony) or even opal. All these species can be fluorescent and form beautiful samples of fluorescent fossils: mollusk shells filled with calcite crystals, fossil corals with very decorative patterns, silicified wood, internal turret molding in chalcedony, belémnite in calcite / aragonite or in opal, etc. .
