Phosphorescence (in the common sense of the term) observable with the naked eye:
No data
Comments:
Activator(s) and spectrum:
Activator(s): Fe3+, Cr3+,
No spectrum yet
Comments on spectrum and activators:
Time resolved luminescence spectra under excitation by 266 nm are characterized by the band peaking at 695 nm with a decay time of 100 μs.
Principally it may be connected to Fe3+ or Cr3+ centers. (Gaft)
Best localities for fluorescence (*):
- Ilimaussaq complex, Kvanefjeld, Narsaq, Kitaa (West Greenland) Province, Greenland ;
- Jebel Bou-Agrao, Tamazeght Mountain Range, Khénifra Province, Meknès-Tafilalet Region, Morocco (weak yellowish SW and LW, could be an alteration or other mineral covering nepheline);
- Michelsberg Quarry, Katzenbuckel, Eberbach, Odenwald, Baden-Württemberg, Germany (white-blue LW);
- Ladjuar Medam, Sar-e Sang, Koksha Valley, Khash & Kuran Wa Munjan Districts, Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan (not really fluorescent but covering sodalite);
(*)The data are not exhaustive and are limited to a few remarkable localities for fluorescence
